About
the DCL - Hardware
Readout
Hardware: The DCL currently supports the following detector
readout electronics.
- A
Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) engineering
model unit CCD Electronics Box (CEB), run by a Sun workstation.
This unit is used to verify timing patterns and test for
electrical noise on a flight-like system. This CEB is not
identical to the WFC3 CEB, but is close enough for preliminary
checks. It supports the STIS 1K x 1K CCD by default, but
can be reprogrammed to support larger formats.
- Two
San Diego State University (Bob Leach), commercial CCD readout
systems (with local modifications to reduce noise and improve
stability), supporting up to 4K x 4K formats.
- Two
San Diego State University commercial readout systems with
IR Labs cryostats supporting 1K x 1K HAWAII-1 and 2K x 2K
HAWAII-2 HgCdTe devices.
These
systems are slightly different and not all systems support
all device types. However, this set of systems supports almost
all devices from major manufacturers.
